Statement from the WACA Board — April 2026
The Board of Wadsworth Area Community Assets (WACA) has formally resolved to proceed with investigating the community purchase of the Hare & Hounds, Old Town, for operation as a community freehouse pub. This decision is founded on a substantial and consistent body of evidence that the community of Old Town and the surrounding Wadsworth area wishes to see this pub saved, reopened, and sustained as a community asset.

You can see the full statement and eveidence of support on our Hare and Hounds page

You can still contribute your views and offer help by completing our Consultation Questionnaire here.

WACA and the current owner of the Hare and Hounds Inn are now in positive and constructive dialogue about a potential sale of the pub to the community group.

It’s early days, but this is a very exciting first step. See our April 2026 update for more details and watch this space….

A great evening – nearly £1000 rasied in aid of WACA to fund us as an organisation that works to retain and renew Wadsworth buildings and resources.

Huge thanks to WACA volunteers, WCA volunteers and DJs who all gave their time for free.

And thank you to all the dancers, drinkers and pie-eaters on the night. Watch out for our next Fundraiser soon………
