WACA’s first AGM will be held at 7pm (doors open at 6:45pm) on Tuesday 19th May 2026 at Wadsworth Community Centre

….for details and agenda please see our AGM page.

And at 8pm on Tuesday 19 May (after a short pause following the AGM) we are running a Funding Information Meeting to explain how we plan to fund our bid for the Hare and Hounds Inn

Our main source of funding will be through launching a Community Share Offer. And we’ll supplement that, if necesary, by exploring grant funding and loans.

Not heard of that before? Don’t worry. A Community Share Offer is often used to allow local people to purchase withdrawable, non-transferable shares in assets like shops or – as in this case – pubs. We’ll explain this on 19th, as well as sending out information to our mailing list after the meeting. There will also be time at the meeting for you to ask general questions about WACA’s Hare and Hounds project.

Statement from the WACA Board — April 2026
The Board of Wadsworth Area Community Assets (WACA) has formally resolved to proceed with investigating the community purchase of the Hare & Hounds, Old Town, for operation as a community freehouse pub. This decision is founded on a substantial and consistent body of evidence that the community of Old Town and the surrounding Wadsworth area wishes to see this pub saved, reopened, and sustained as a community asset.
