Facility is required and can be viable

The facility is clearly still required within the local area. This is evidenced by the depth of support shown in responses to WACA’s community consultation.
Although the Hare and Hounds was run poorly under the most recent tenants, operating a non-viable business model, the pub would be viable if well-run. This subject is discussed in more detail in the Business Viability page.
No reasonable efforts have been made to retain the facility.
No considerations have been made towards alternative community uses.
Community ownership – although not the only means of ensuring business viability – is currently being explored by WACA.
WACA submitted an Asset of Community Value (ACV) application for the Hare and Hounds to CMBC in December 2025, and look forward to approval by the Council.
